It is Sunday and I am lazy! I have things planned, but not at this very moment. That means cruising and admiring blogs and loving my cup of Joe. Speaking of which, this made my cup even more special this morning.
Ethiopian coffee that has been certified as Fair Trade. To become certified an importer has to meet strict criteria by paying the farmers a minimum of $1.26 per pound of coffee. This helps to eliminate "sweatshops in the fields". I watched a special on PBS and it was heartbreaking. It stayed with me the last couple of weeks and since then I have been on a search for it. I nearly jumped for joy when I found it at my local grocer. First of all it is delicious and as a bonus it does my heart good. If you want more information here is a link.
Now I don't know if you noticed the peek of yarn behind my new coffee. It is too is new. I needed to stop at my LYS to pick up some more yarn for my nephews blanket. I found the yarn I needed and then some. I didn't take pics because this LYS isn't really the friendliest. It is one of those yarn stores where the owners and workers follow you around like you are going to run off with the yarn. I think I counted numerous "Are you looking for something in particular?" or " Did you need some assistance?" comments. I know they are just trying to be helpful (maybe) but I am in a zone when I am at a yarn store. I need to feel everything and read labels, as well as mentally tally my increasingly heavy basket. I guess it was a blessing in disguise because I sure can do some damage when I yarn shop. (who needs food, right?) So here are my newest additions...
Surprised you? Thought you would be flooded with pink, didn't you? I am trying to expand my color choices and try new things. The blue one on front is Classic Elite Silky Alpaca Lace. It has actually more grey in it then it looks. It is really breathtaking. Then brownish one in back is Berroco Ultra Fine Alpaca. It is divine! I couldn't put it down.
This shopping trip was different because everything I purchased has a pattern in mind. Usually I just buy in the name of love. The steel blue one is a secret project. The Berroco is being saved for this scarf, but it will have a more lacey effect. In the meantime I am so close to finishing the Twisted Goddess's lace leaf scarf, I thought I would save you from another pic of it. It will be blocked and ready for it's close up next weekend.
In the meantime I have a movie recommendation as well as what I am listening to today. Happy Weekend and much love to all!
I adore this movie so much I am planning on watching it again very soon!
My movie and music seem to go very well together. Maybe I am feeling a bit Indie this week. :)
