My Sister's Knitter

Swan Song...

She has been transformed.

Thankfully not a moment went by when I was not enjoying this pattern, especially considering it took me a month to finish it.

• Pattern: Alma Ella Shawl by Robin Lynn
• Yarn: Frog Tree Alpaca Wool Fingering
• Needles: Size 5

I am really having to refrain from casting on another one immediately! The pattern was just perfect and I already have the yarn picked out. Maybe I will wait a month or two, then start another. :)

Now on to finish more knits on the needles. This long holiday weekend has allowed for socks to be worked on, as well as new knitting projects to begin. Christmas decorations will be going up tomorrow in hopes that it will kick start the Christmas knitting I need to get done. The list is short this year (whew!).

All over the place...

Starting projects left and right like a mad woman! There is no hope. Why don't I first start off with a FO? That may make me feel a little better. Yeah, November socks are done!

What more can be said that I haven't already said a million times? Perfect yarn and perfect pattern!

Somewhere in my crazy brain, I thought since something came off the needles, something needed to go back on. I cast on another pair of Hermoine's sock. I told you, I love this pattern.

As a result of this years mass sock knitting, my sock scrap yarn stash is building. I debated quite a few scrap projects and settled on this blanket.

As with any scrap blanket, there is no need to finish right away. When I feel a little hooky, I just whip out a ball and hook a quick circle then add some white.

Other projects are still being worked on. My Swan is nearing completion. I would share a picture but it still looks like a blob of magenta. Fingers crossed that she is finished today. I also have plans for some football watching tomorrow, which means I will work on my Hexi blanket. Just to make your head spin even more, I also worked on these socks that I started in September. I finished one and have cast on the second.

I honestly have no idea how I have been able to finish one thing this week, (yes I do have a job). This post proves, I am not a monogamous knitter nor will I ever be one. Just facing the facts! :)

Treasures...

I went off my unofficial yarn diet. I had a good reason...

 

When Ruth announced that she had some hand-dyed sock yarn up on her Etsy site, I could not resist. Out of all the many lovelies, these two secretly told me they wanted to come live with me. May have something to do with the fact they are pink? Within hours of receipt I had the top one (Cranberry Over Slate), wound into a nice pretty cake and was casting on a sock.

 

 

I mean seriously, wouldn't you? The yarn is knitting up like a dream and the colors-mwah! No pooling what-so-ever. You should take yourself over to her Etsy shop and buy some yarn, because if you don't I will probably buy the lot. Then you will all be jealous of me. :)

 

Even though I have yet another pair of socks on the needles, I am still working away on the Swan. She is still a bit of a lump, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Can you see it? 

 

Fingers crossed that I will have a FO to show soon. Especially since blogland, Flickr, and Ravelry are all  tempting my needles!

Latest temptations:

• Bethany and her latest socks. She is killing me with these!
• This hat! What is not to love? Hmmm, it has been a while since I have completed a hat.
• Any and all shawl patterns from Rose Beck. I have already bought one of her EBook patterns, seriously contemplating the rest.
• Chawne's new true love , is now mine as well. I want to take a pile of all her blankets and build a blanket fort and never come out.
• As if I didn't already have a million socks on the needles, Maryse's Jaywalkers are beckoning.
• I want to knit beautiful shawls and wraps like Monika! (On a side note I seem to have a small obsession with her dog Denny. All of her four-legged family members are fantastic, but something about Denny gets me every time. Could be because I  have a thing for bad boys.)
