My Sister's Knitter

Start...stop..start...

This is how the last week has felt. I have knitting mojo, but it has been all over the place. Knitting begins on one thing, then I am easily bored so I move on to another. Maybe it's the summer or maybe I am just going though another round of startitis. Whatever it is, I wish it would stop. Thankfully it stopped long enough for me to finish my pinky socks.

These socks were a fun knit. Nice and simple with a wonderful texture. The more socks I knit, the more I discover about my likes and dislikes of patterns. I realize I gravitate towards simple texture more than complicated twists, cables, and lace.

Yeah to finished socks! A friend and I were talking about our love of knitting socks and how we do not feel complete without at least one pair on the needles. For a while I only had one pair on, now I have three. One of them is a test knit for the above mentioned friend, so I can't show you yet.

See...more texture. :) The pattern is from this book and the yarn is Socks that Rock in Grimms Willow Wren.

And these socks are for a KAL for this group. I don't usually participate in KAL too often, because for some reason it stresses me out. The challenge for this one, is to knit a pattern that is not vanilla using a self striping yarn. The pattern is Sunday Swing Socks and the yarn is KnitPicks Felici in Building Blocks.

On to things other than socks. Yes there are things other than socks. heh. I have two shawls on the needles. Lyrica Euterpe is so close  to be done it's scary, but I can't seem to muster the will to finish. Hopefully this weekend (finger's crossed).

I know I mentioned it before, but this yarn is just heavenly.

Above we have the beginnings of a scarf/shawl for a friend who loves white.

Whew...you still with me? That is a lot of projects and rights about now you are probably wanting to shake me and say, "What is wrong with you?". I know I told you start..stop..start. It has been the story of Andi lately. Hopefully next time you visit me I will have some of the above items finished. Next time you visit I will have some wonderful inspriations from around blogland and I am telling you there are some amazing projects out there that you all have been working on!

Sweet and simple Sunday

It has been one of those Sundays. Where you just enjoy the moment. Little things like a clean home, fresh sheets on the bed, and the smell of something baking in the oven. That's when I let out a big ..Ahhhh. 

The knitting mojo was a bit laxed this week. Thankfully it wasn't completely gone. Worked just a bit on my socks. Maybe it's the heat, but it is slow going in the knitting department right now.

Or maybe it is the dreams of Fall and Winter, which isn't helped along by the new KnitPicks Catalog that came in the mail. How I love me some gray and white!

The heat here in Arizona hasn't stopped me from cranking on the oven. I made this insanely good soul- filling casserole. The creamed sweet corn  put me off at first, but I am telling you this is a must try. Thanks Mom for the recommendation!

Even with the knowledge of a  Monday on the horizon, this Sunday has been sweet. I will leave you by sending you away to be inspired by some amazing projects and things around the web. Enjoy and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Mo yarn and some new projects.

Mo...referring to Mo Farah's wonderful win in the 10000 meter race, which I just had to mention. Let me show you some new stash I acquired. Yes, Mo yarn! Just because I love to enable you and tempt you. Here you go, first up Tempted Yarns.

Colors : Bricktown, Guerilla Grrl, and Flora. Yes more pink, because you know my stash is severely lacking pink. heh. You can get Tempted Yarns at Loopy Ewe, but I purchased these at the Tempted online store. Can I just say that Stacy from Tempted has excellent customer service? Bonus, my order came with some lovely BeaGin stitch markers .

I decided to pay another visit to Camilla (Twist&Twine), because I adore her and her yarn.

Love how some dyers have their own signature packaging. I always know Twist&Twine by the lovely purple tissue paper wrapped in red and white twine. :) I know more pink. Now that I have added more pink to my stash, the next order may include other colors.

Alright the enabling is out of the way. How about some new items that I like to say, "jumped on the needles".  Since I had no socks on the needles, I remedied that very quickly.

Some nice Simple Textured Socks. I dug deep in the stash for this lovely shade of pink because I needed something mild after those bright socks I just finished. The yarn is Pagewood Farms Yukon in the color Cotton Candy. The yarn is incredible and knits up very much like Cotton Candy.

Here is a color and yarn that has me absolutely giddy. When I say this yarn knits up like butter, I am not kidding. The color has me in love. This shawl is Lyrica Euterpe by Romi Hill. The yarn is Skein Top Drawer Sock in the color Little Red. Here is the kicker, I have never knit a shawl with out having an extra 100 yards to play with. This pattern calls for 430 yards and I have 437, which is cutting it extremely close. I am warning you now that if I run out of yarn before this shawl is finished, you will hear a primal scream all across the lands (tad dramatic-but true)!

That in a nutshell has been my week and weekend. Tomorrow will be taking the sister out to The Urban Tea Loft for her birthday lunch. How about you, how is your weekend going? Hope it is filled with yarn.
