Hey there! Happy weekend all. Took a short unintentional break from the blog last week. Nothing wrong, it just seemed the week got away from me. How about if we catch up on some current projects and knitting woes?
Super fun socks are on the needles. I know, all sock knitting is fun, but this pattern is really fun.
Work has been slow and sleady on my first cardigan. Of course me being me, my cardigan is being knit in fingering weight yarn, which makes progress snail pace.
You may remember that for the last couple of posts I have been KAL'ing with this fun group. I posted this progress pic, which was the last repeat before the edging.
Above is the knitting before. Below is the knitting woe.
It is ugly and if you would like to hear what happened, you can read it here. Boo! It has been a couple days since the incident, so I am over it. Have you experienced a knitting mishap such as this? If so share, so I won't feel so alone. :)
A perfectly timed gift from my dear friend Katie, was received in the mail. It is too sweet not to share. I may have mentioned a couple hundred times how envious I was of the snow images on her blog.
Short and sweet post. On to enjoy the weekend and what will hopefully be a great Superbowl games tomorrow. I will be back next weekend to share some serious blog loves. Enjoy this lovely video and have a fantastic weekend everyone!

love the top socks...feel for your tragedy...have done that so many times it's not funny...didn't know you could make snow...how clever!!!
and that video...what a lovely story...'specially the last bit...she has something in her "tummy" to bring the circle to a close...such sweet things she makes..off to check them out!!!

Oh no Andi! I'm so sorry for your Leaves of Grass.... I can't even imagine how you felt at that tragic moment.

Knitting a cardigan with fingering yarn....butter yourself up with patience....it looks lovely and I am sure it wil be a favorite.

That shawl disaster is absolutely horrifying. I'm so glad you managed to sort it out! I'm definitely feeling all socks all the time right now, but every time I see a gorgeous shawl like that I want to make one!

The texture of that cardigan is lovely, it is going to be so so pretty! I think that cardigans knit in fingering or DK weight yarn turn out the best. I think we've all had horrible knitting disasters at one point or another, I sympathize with you!

Not the knitting! The most recent knitting mishap I had was when I dropped something while working on the lace portion of the Rock Island shawl. Super fun.
Your cardigan is like knitting four pairs of socks. It looks like you are making great progress. I've found that every time I finish a large project, like a sweater, all of a sudden time slingshots at me and I feel like I can knit three more sweaters in a week. It's weird how the time space continuum stretches around sweater knitting.

I cringed when I got to the second photo of the shawl. So sorry! At least the yarn now has a story to tell when it's reincarnated into another beauty.

Your new socks are beautiful in that honey colorway! And how about your Atelier? I love the designer. Don't drink or take medecine while you knit... When I knit my first Thermal, I was knitting happily until I discovered that the stitch holder that was supposed to hold the yoke stitches wasn't. Seriously, I thought I'd have a nerve breakdown... but it wasn't so bad after all. After hours and hours of work, I fixed it! And it teached me a good lesson! Ah knitting... ;-)

That sock pattern is super awesome! I had it already marked as a fave. It's always nice to see someone's work on a Rav pattern b/c sometimes you get a better and different perspective of it.
Sorry about your shawl! Eek! I hope you'll be able to fix that despite the horrifying mess of ladders down that got pulled out.
That is a great video. I'm happy for this woman who found a way to express herself. I love those Russian dolls. My mum's brought back these hand painted sets from one ofmher big trips last year before Christmas.

Oh Andi, I can't even imagine what you felt when you discovered the fate of your Leaves. I know time heals all and it does seem like you're feeling better, but know that we're all giving you virtual hugs.
On the positive side, I *love* those socks! I downloaded the pattern to check out the stitch pattern and can't believe how simple it is! Great result and simple knitting - wonderful combo.
As for your cardi - fabulous progress! Black will be so versatile.
ps - thanks for sharing that video. It really put me in a great mood. I love when she talked about her 100th feeling :) Great way to start my Sunday.

Although I have made myself sweaters, I have yet to embark on a fingering weight one. I am eager to see how yours turns out. So sad about the shawl. Now that you have a bit of distance, can you salvage it? My son did this to a lacey pair of socks - pulled the needles right out. After a bit of space (a year!!), I was able to reinsert the needles and carry on. Hoping it works our for you.

Oh, such horror :O ! I feel for you there... Have buried a memory ( deep, deep down ) of one of my cats jumping on my lap while I was knitting, all purring.. and clawing away happily... Let's say the happy part there wasn't exactly shared... :P

Bet the cardigan will turn out great too. I'm currently working on a pullover, also snail pace.. But I love the not so bulky yarn... Practical, too; it it isn't that cold long enough to have a lot of bulky garments

The socks will be gorgeous, and the cardigan worth the wait, but oh no, your poor Leaves! I have had my share of knitting mishaps, not least of which was when the whippets wrecked a loooooong cowl I had promised to a friend, with just an inch left to knit. It's still languishing at the bottom of the sort me pile!

Ooooh I love that cardigan pattern! The only sweater/cardigan I've done is with super bulky yarn, you're brave! I would love to try one with sock yarn... maybe one day soon..

I'm so sorry to hear about the leaves accident :( I'm generally very clumsy, and I've had my share of accidents.. the only one I can't forget is my first attempt at designing a few years ago. I designed, knit and happily posed for pictures (it was a fitted top/ tee, and it was one of my biggest projects).
The only time I had the chance to wear it was during the photo shoot. I still don't know how I managed to be so silly, but I had apparently thrown it in the washer and it came out all felted and doll sized.. I cried :P
I'm happy you're feeling better already.. thought I'd share ;)
