Haha...I haven't, but I have always wanted to say that! Wait I take that back, compared to my knitting 6 years ago, my skills are much improved. I have learned new stitches, how to read charts, knit cables, color-work, joggless stripes.......ya da ya da ya da.
All those are things that come with years of knitting, right? When I think of a new skill I have learned, it would be not being a perfectionist. I like my stitches neat and tidy, as much as the next knitter. I drool over some that even close up look amazing. Admittedly, I make mistakes. Rather than taking them out and sometimes starting anew, I now continue on my merry way. (If they are not too noticeable!)
This is a new "skill" for me. Not long ago if I made a mistake, I would take the project out completely or it would sit in my WIPS basket-forever. Believe me there are times I have to frog back 10 very long rows because it is just completely off. Luckily it is not all the time.
While I still dream of knitting the perfect stitch like her, I don't dwell on it too much. I have found that I get more done if I don't. :)

I'd just like some patience with knitting, that's all I ask. I try and I try and I try and I fail spectacularly every damn time. I've bought books with beeyooteeful patterns in and I've sat there and daydreamed about knitting them but that's all it is for me - a daydream. If you could buy "knitting patience" I would buy me plenty as I want to be able to go the distance with knitting so badly.

I think your work is absolutely brilliant and I have been known to wish that I was the lucky sister who received your knitting on more than one occasion.
Not being a perfectionist is a difficult skill to master - I too have frogged several rows (in tears) because it just didn't look right to me... the whole time everyone else is going "it was fine" or "it looked good to me"... I am too critical of my own work, I guess.
I'll work on being more relaxed with you - perhaps we should knit at a spa... or at least a Starbucks.

Not being a perfectionnist! I don't know if I can get that skill! It obsesses me most of the time (crazy me)! My excuse is that knitting again is as much fun as knitting for the first time ;-) I'll think about it seriously, it would be a good challenge ;-)

I love it - knitting as self-awareness therapy! It's good to let go and enjoy the process, not stress on the minutaie of the project, but know that if 99% of it is right, you really can forget that tiny 1% mistake.
I applaud you for the growth in self awareness..

I'm with you. If it's not noticeable (esp on kids clothes + socks) i'll let it go. But not on a mama sweater - because then i feel like everyone can see it. Your colorwork is beautiful!
