Could just be me, but I seem to be attracted to fall/winter colors in the summer.
Warm, rich colors seem to want to jump on my needles. Who I am to stop them?
Now it's just not the colors I am drawn to, but winter-type knits as well. Heavier shawls, socks, and cardigans are top of my summer knit lists. What an odd-ball I am.
Maybe if I think hard about the reasons behind my attraction to fall/winter knits, I will discover that it could be my way of having my dream of eternal winter. Then again, why think about it at all. I will practice what I preach and knit what I love.
What are you knitting this weekend? Nice, light summer knits? Or are you an knitting oddball like me?
Whatever you are crafting, I hope it is bringing you bliss!
XO
Andi
I'm so with you Andi!!!! Totally a fall girl, I love warm colors! It's supposed to reach 106 here this weekend and all I can think about is knitting shawls in autumn colors. It never even gets to be fall like here until mid November but I WANT TO KNIT A MILLION WARM THINGS! Lololol! Also, have you ever used the Songza app? I recently discovered it through my friend Karyn and thought you might enjoy it!

I'm like you. I knit whatever I want whenever I want. Maybe the seasonal knitters are the actual oddballs.

Thanks for sharing. On my list right now -- My summer tank to be done by Friday, and I want to pick up my spindle sometime this week, and some socks!
I LOVE the socks you have going, those colors are great. And who says you need to be in winter to knit for winter? I think knitting can be any season anytime!

I am knitting socks. Easy to take with me on Summer travels.

I'm just all blue all the time as far as colors are concerned. But I don't think that there should be any rules for knitting at all. It's something we do because we love it, and there's no reason to do anything a specific way just because someone else thinks that it makes sense. I'm making a shawl out of alpaca in the awful heat we've been having in Boston, and I am ROASTING, but I love it :P

I knit whatever I feel like knitting (or crocheting). But I will admit that on really hot summer days (40 degrees C), I tend not to do blankets, no matter how much I want to!

It is always autumn/winter somewhere in the world...like Melbourne right now. You are just channeling the inner winter that lives in all knitters! And more power to you.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to knit autumn/winter stuff in summer. If anything, you'll be prepared and have gorgeous new items to wear when the weather changes.

I knit winter colors all year round because that's what I like. Your colors in this post are soooo pretty. Oh, and what's the pattern of the socks?

I know exactly what you mean because I feel just the same way :D
Although I wonder if we'd tire of winter, wouldn't it seem less special if we never had summer to compare it too?

Funny. I was thinking the same thing the other day as I was working on a wool hat and scarf set. I'm also about to start a shawl for a friend's birthday - which is in the summer (she's a knitter so I'm hoping she also 'gets it' - that I'm gifting her a warm woolly shawl in the middle of summer!)

I'm an oddball like you and I don't really 'do' summer knits. That said, I am working on a fairly summery shrug just now, alongside a very autumnal sweater. The latter, along with the rest of my immediate and wintry to-knit list are all magazine commissions which of course are all out-of-sync with the seasons, so I suppose I could use that as an excuse!

i'd say that's pretty smart knitting....you'll have those wintery things finished when winter hits....me, I seem to always be winding up a sweater sometime in July! (YUK!) I love winter, too-----wish it was a year-long season!
