Happy Sunday! I have been excited for this Sunday to come so that I can share with you some lovely new to me yarn.

 

 

Do you remember that I talked about upcoming yarn and product reviews in 2014? First up for the New Year is Mountain Meadow Wool. Can I just say, what a way to start?

 

 

Since I have been in the mood to knit with grey lately, that is the skein I decided to test out.

 

 

Folks, this yarn is beautifully rustic. I have always been drawn to rustic yarn because of how it feels when you knit with it. A rather "being one with nature kind of feeling", that one gets. Make sense?

 

 

This may not be a word, but I am sure that most of you will understand when I say that the "sproing" factor in this yarn is off the charts. This made up word leads to fantastic stitch definition. I wanted to knit something simple so that I could tell how the yarn would show of the stitches, therefore I knit the Lovely Ribbed Cowl pattern from Purl Soho. Now that I can see how the yarn takes to pattern, I would bet cables would really work.

 

 

While knitting with wooly yarns is a therapy for me, wearing them next to my skin is not always. Except in this case. After a long soak, this yarn bloomed into what  feels very close to a baby's bum. Can you tell from the picture how soft it is, maybe not, but trust me.

Or don't trust me and judge for yourself. As I am offerring up a skein to one lucky person. The winner gets to choose from a lovely pink or saffron skein of Mountain Meadow Wool's Jackson DK weight. Each skein has a rather robust amount of yardage at 262 yards.

The yarn looks beautiful and I think I would love to see the sproing in person. And I have to say that they gray is stunning. Being that the weather is so cold right now, a cowl in that orange would be so cozy and warm.

I think I prefer the orange, but I like the pink as well. LOVE the gray. hmm. cables would look good. sign me up. :) I think I might go with a cowl too. bright orange cowl with cables might be JUST the thing!

I would knit a nice slouchy hat. Orange is one of my favorite knitting colors, so that's what I would pick!

Your cowel looks lovely and squishy. I would make a cowl in the orange to brighten up the dull winter days we've been having.
