You may know that I am a sock knitter. Maybe that is putting it mildly. The best part about being an avid sock knitter is the fact that I am not alone. There are many knitters with the same addiction. Knitters, who like me, must have at least one pair of socks on the needles, but usually more. I call them my sock brothers and sisters. Not really but I do feel a very deep connection.
this pic is from a while ago. :)
This leads me to a new eZine called Addicted to Sock Knitting. Have you heard of this brilliant publication that was the brain child of Debra of the popular ASK group? If you haven’t heard the eZine is all about sock knitting!
I got a chance to preview the first issue, can you say sock talk heaven?
This issue is jam-packed full of sock patterns (7), interviews, galleries of brilliant socks, and reviews of yarn shops and products. My ultimate favorite was the gallery of Mind the Gap socks.
I left the following review on the ASK website:
I thoroughly enjoyed your eZine. In my opinion you should be charging 20.00 per issue not, 7. The amount of information, patterns, interviews, tips, stories, and introduction to products is obese! I would compare the quality of your eZine to Interweaves.
You should really be proud of yourself!

I love socks because they're always useful, they're portable and you can do so many things with them - plain, lace, colour work cables the list is endless!

My favourite things- I couldn't choose just one- are the portability and the variety, I love that I can have something complicated or something that that requires almost no thought. It is funny that the contest closes on my son's birthday.

Hi Andi
I love their portability, the fact that you can make them as simple or complex as you like and of course the affect using different yarns will have on the finished product. I too am never without a sock on the needles. Thank you for the opportunity to win a subscription.
Regards
Tracey

It is hard not to become infected by your sheer enthusiasm and verve. I like socks because they are so useful and so pretty.

I too am very addicted to knitting socks. I think it's because I wear my hand knit socks all the time. And you can go all crazy with a sock, which I wouldn't do so quickly with more time intensive projects like sweaters. Plus, sock yarn is so easy to buy ;)

What I do love most about knitting socks is that they are small enough to be taken everywhere. I do also love the fact that knitting them does not take forever and that you can never have enough of them in your closet...

Where to begin? What's not to love about sock knitting! The little project fits snugly into almost any purse, allowing me the freedom to pull it out and knit just about anywhere - movies, line in the market, stopped at a red light - self striping yarns make it fun and impossible to put down at night without saying 'just one more stripe'...I recently found your blog and now I'll put it front and center on my home page. Knit on!

I love the warm cozy feeling my feet have in my hand knitted socks. I wear tactical boots at work for 12 hour shifts. My socks are my secret bling I have on under my uniform and boots. I am blessed to have enough socks that I no longer have 'store bought' socks.

everything! it's portable, practical, fairly quick....you can try different patterns on a smaller scale, you use (primarily!) little needles and thin yarn (my favorites!!!).....and people think you are brilliant when they see you juggling four or five needles at the same time!

I love knitting socks because of the usefulness of them. I love to make special gifts for friends and family and everybody needs socks. I love being able to personalize the color and style to the recipient. Thanks for a chance to win a useful magazine subscription!

You can never have too many socks! Simple as that.
But there is so much more to it: awesome gifts, easy to carry around...

What a generous prize! My favourite thing is that its the only thing I really knit for me!! Being able to make and wear something practical myself is a special talent to have I think!

I hate to be a copycat but all of the above!!!!!! This ezine looks great!

It took me an entire weekend to turn my first heel. I holed up by myself on my couch and turned, frogged, turned, frogged, and turned and frogged endlessly. I called another knitter to try to explain what was happening over the phone, but she wasn't able to help without a visual. Finally, on Sunday afternoon, it worked. Now I can knit socks in my sleep with no pattern, but I still get that same sense of victory whenever I turn a heel.

I've just learned to knit within the last two years and this Christmas, I'm knitting everyone in the family a pair of socks (6 pairs!)! My absolute favorite part is turning those adorable heels. :-)

One thing? I can't narrow it down to that. I love knitting with DPN's and I LOVE turning a heal. Socks are always perfect. So is your Blog.

Hi Andy
I was curious, how do you knit so fast? What technique do you use? Might you consider a video of your speedy fingers? I am envious of how fast you can pop a pair of socks or shawl.
Knit on!

The zen-like monotony of a vanilla sock, the opportunity to express my inner wild child in colour and pattern, the chance to test myself with complex lace patterns I would never contemplate attempting in garment scale .... But most of all the pleasure of knitting something my family love to receive. My children constantly bicker over whose turn it is to get the next pair of socks and they are straight on their feet as doom as I have finished grafting the toes. What's not to love for a knitting mum?

I love the warmth and comfort of wearing hand-knit socks. I only wish I could knit them faster!

Hello Sock Knitting Sister! I too always have at least one (usually 2, a pair for me and something I am working on for someone else) on the needles. There is something soothing about a nice stripey/patterened yarn and all those rows of tiny stockinette to work through when I need a distraction or just down time. I always have other, more complicated knitting going also for when I want to seriously knit...but the socks are the rest and comfort.

I'm just getting ready to cast on my first pair of socks - wish me luck!
I think what appeals to me is the sheer usefulness - everyone can use socks.

Nothing much is better than the feeling of a pair of knitted socks on my cold tootsies, particularly during our long Maine winters!
