Hello and happy Sunday! Here we are at the end of another week. How was your week?
This week has been a great one knit-wise. The mojo is still going strong and I feel like I have been getting a lot accomplished. Maybe not in finished objects but more in the sense that I have really been enjoying my knitting. Don't you love it when that happens? I think it has everything to do with the yarn I am knitting with.
About a month ago I was contacted by Joan Lucey, proud owner of Vibes & Scribes, a wonderful craft shop in Cork, Ireland. Yes, you read that correct...Ireland. Lucy has been expanding the shop's selection of Irish Aran Yarns and wanted to know if I would like to try some. Absolutely!
Being the tea drinking addict I am, I begged asked Lucy if she wouldn't mind including some tea from Ireland. What a love, she sent me a whole box. I'm in heaven!
Since I felt that such a thoughtful gift deserved to be made into a thoughtful gift knit. I have decided to knit a shawl for a friend who lives here in the states and is very proud of her Irish heritage. I cast on the Henny shawl by Buckaloo View.
While there is something to be said for supporting our local yarn farms and dyers, I also think that supporting the knitting community as a whole is equally important. In my eyes we are all one big knitting family. Thank you Joan for your wonderful gift. Not only for gift of yarn and tea but for reaching out to share you beautiful shop and a bit of Ireland with me with my American friends.
You can find out more about Vibes & Scribes at their website or on Facebook. Their shipping to the states is super fast!
Hope today finds you knitting with yarn you love. :)
Have the best day today!
XO,
Andi
That yarn looks lovely and so thoughtful she included a box of tea. I do like knitting best when I'm just enjoying the moment, and each stitch, rather than being overly focused on finishing things.

You received a special gift from Lucy and the Ireland shop. How special is that? I love the yarn that Lucy sent to you. I am crazy about tweed, and the green of Ireland is a perfect shade for a yarn gift.
By the way, I feel the yarn, that we use, makes all the difference as to whether you enjoy your knitting or not.

Yes, ma'am... the yarn has a lot to do with our enjoyment and you are so right, Andi... there is a sisterhood (and brotherhood)/connection of knitters which transcends cultural lines. I love that. =)
WOW! that is some beautiful yarn. I can't wait to see this shawl finished. Hope this week continues your happy knitting. ;) blessings ~ tanna

This post makes me both glad that I'm this side of the Atlantic and sad that I'm not buying any more yarn until I've de-stashed a little! I agree though, the knitting community is a massive family. Can't wait to see the final shawl.

Oh what a gorgeous pattern! It's so great when a yarn gift can become a project to gift to another friend. I think this yarn works perfectly with the pattern as well.
