Hello and happy Sunday! Here we are at the end of another week. How was your week?
This week has been a great one knit-wise. The mojo is still going strong and I feel like I have been getting a lot accomplished. Maybe not in finished objects but more in the sense that I have really been enjoying my knitting. Don't you love it when that happens? I think it has everything to do with the yarn I am knitting with.
About a month ago I was contacted by Joan Lucey, proud owner of Vibes & Scribes, a wonderful craft shop in Cork, Ireland. Yes, you read that correct...Ireland. Lucy has been expanding the shop's selection of Irish Aran Yarns and wanted to know if I would like to try some. Absolutely!
Being the tea drinking addict I am, I begged asked Lucy if she wouldn't mind including some tea from Ireland. What a love, she sent me a whole box. I'm in heaven!
Since I felt that such a thoughtful gift deserved to be made into a thoughtful gift knit. I have decided to knit a shawl for a friend who lives here in the states and is very proud of her Irish heritage. I cast on the Henny shawl by Buckaloo View.
While there is something to be said for supporting our local yarn farms and dyers, I also think that supporting the knitting community as a whole is equally important. In my eyes we are all one big knitting family. Thank you Joan for your wonderful gift. Not only for gift of yarn and tea but for reaching out to share you beautiful shop and a bit of Ireland with me with my American friends.
You can find out more about Vibes & Scribes at their website or on Facebook. Their shipping to the states is super fast!
Hope today finds you knitting with yarn you love. :)
Have the best day today!
XO,
Andi
Look at that gorgeous green - hurray for you! One of the things I love most about you, Andi, is how you make this knitting community feel like family, we are so lucky to have you :) wishing you the loveliest of weeks. xo

Beautiful green!!!! Isn't it the best feeling to cast on a new project?

I love that green color! It makes me think of a moor or peat bog or some other sort of wild Euro place ha (:
I also want some tea now!
The only Irish yarn I'm vaguely familiar with is Hedgehog Fibers. I was looking at their lace yarns yesterday and dreaming about owning some, someday.
I think my favorite was the 'teacup' colorway

Beautiful emerald greens make me want to visit Ireland.. Maybe it's time to discover my heritage :P My aunt and I were actually scheming trying to figure out how we could do wool-centric bike tours of Ireland as our jobs instead of what we actually do.

You know, I find Aran weight is really great for showing off textures in everything from baby cardigans to hand mitts. Their site looks great, thanks for sharing!
Enjoy that mojo. I'm right there with you. I'm shuffling my schedule to extend my knitting time. ha!

I love rustic yarns myself ... the ones you got have been added to my "to buy" list after this yarn fast I'm on.

What a lovely gift! Both of the yarn and of the shawl - that is going to be lovely!
Alas, I wish I was knitting but studying is taking up a lot of time... hopefully I will get the chance soon.

Love that tweedy green yarn!

Lovely yarn. I love donegal tweed. FYI, if you are an English/Irish tea lover, I have always been able to find Barry's Tea in the international aisle of my local supermarket, and I have lived in NJ, Ct, And Ohio. I buy my all time favorite, Yorkshire Tea by Taylors of Harrogate, at Home Goods, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx. If it isn't in the food aisle, then by the checkout. I've been able to find it there for at least 10 years. Happy tea time!
