Hello and happy Sunday!
How was your week? Were you able to squeeze in some time for yarn?
It may come as no surprise that I knit everyday. Whether it is just one row or many rows, I have to knit. It doesn't take much for me to be inspired to knit. This got me wondering, what inspires you to knit?
Is it seeing a gorgeous knit that your friend has finished?
Maybe you see a beautiful yarn and the desire to create something with it won't leave your thoughts.
I could also be possible that maybe you don't need inspiration to knit and that you knit because you just want to. A tough week, meditative knitting, you can't watch t.v. with idle hands, all are valid reason for knitting. But do you need to feel inspired and if so, where do you find your knitting inspirations?
Just a thought/question that was bumbling around is my head this week. Enjoy a video and have the best day today!

XO,
Andi
I am like you and knit every day, I just can't have idle hands. In fact, three days after giving birth to my now 3-months old I was having withdrawal symptoms and needed to get my knitting out :-)

All of the above and more. I have to knit. It keeps me calm and lets me feel creative. The thing that inspires me the most though is colour. I will see a colour and think that a sweater would look great in that colour, or a pair of socks. I think that the need to feel calm and creative and the love of colour are my equal inspirations.

I also knit every day and spend most of my time at work thinking about knitting when I get home! A day without knitting to me is a day without 'me time' and even if I only get 1 row done, it's enough. xxx

Most of the time I just knit a little every day because I am in the middle of a project. But then there might come a break where I feel uninspired and don't know what to do. This usually last until I see something I really love on Ravelry and then it's back to feeling like casting on something new again.

no doubt, seeing others ' FO can definitely lead to a knitting frenzy (or at least a cast-on party!); the idle hands-things, too, keep my needles busy....but, really....I just NEED to knit to stay on even keel...to stay sane (although my daughter sometimes says my knitting obsession proves just the opposite!!!!) I knit even when I don't love any projects I'm working on----just have to do it!!! :)

Since teaching myself to knit five years ago I have not missed one day of picking up my needles and creating loops.
This knitting thing is really quite addictive isn't it?
My inspiration comes from many directions, my LYS, ravelry, blogs, pinterest [my time suck]. I'm just thankful to have this fiber love in my life!
That is some gorgeous yarn in your photo, swoon!

Sometimes I'm inspired just like you are -- by a finished project or by some pretty yarn. Other times it's like a compulsion to knit or crochet. I find when I allow life to take over and I don't knit or hook say for a week, I unravel more. I just can't not knit or hook. That just doesn't work for me.
Here's to a better week and knitting past 70! (hugs)

I try to get in some knitting every day. Sometimes its just a row or two and other times its a good chunk. I keep a project in my car and/or purse so I have something to do when I am out and about!

Hi there,
I have to agree with all of the above. I knit everyday and even though I consider myself a new knitter still (1 year and a couple of months in), I am totally addicted it feels like something that has been missing from my life. I try to knit everyday and with every pattern, I try to learn something new. I don't see myself not knitting because it provides comfort and normalcy to my every day. I keep a blanket on the needles for those stressful times when a lace pattern adds to the stress. An easy blanket pattern allows me to knit away the stress and worry and without having to think too much about what I'm doing. Sorry that was wordy but its such a great question and blog post. Thanks for sharing.

Seing other's FO is defintely a huge inspiration to knit, as well as beautiful yarn display in yarnshops, as well as Ravelry.... My crafting time was too short these past few weeks, but I enjoyed every moment.
Happy Sunday to you Andi!

I am inspired to knit by many different things. I love the feel and smell of the yarn. I love the sheep (or other animal) that gave its coat to be made into yarn. I love to read knitting blogs and discover what everyone else is knitting. I gain a lot of inspiration from those. I feel that when I knit, I am close to nature (no synthetics for me), and I feel comforted.
I haven't got to knit as much as I would like lately. I hope to begin again soon. I used to knit every day. I miss it!
I love your blog. It is one that inspires.

Knitting brings calm. Even undoing mistakes is part of the process for me and doesn't bring the cussing fits I feel bubble up when I sew. I knit while I watch TV, but sometimes I just like to watch my hands move and the way the yarn pulls as I make a stitch. It's beautiful to me.

I knit every day. Now that I'm retired, I knit even more!
Well, I retired 3 years ago, but still find it exciting that I am - LOL! I knit because I love to knit. But sometimes, my excitement wanes a bit. But then I start searching Ravelry and looking at projects and finding patterns and blam, my excitement is in full force again. But even without that level of newness of a new project, I still enjoy my knitting - would be totally lost without it.

I knit every single day and it's rare if I skip. The knitting motions keep me happy, sane, and grounded. I also get a finished object for my time invested!

Oh that video brought back fond memories of my Grandma - she was commissioned to work on high-end pieces that were sold in the US and Japan. The bit that made her giggle is that the yarn was always delivered in security vans. It made her smile wondering what the neighbours must think when the security van pulled up to pick up completed items and drop off the yarn for the next project!
For me, knitting provides so many benefits: fulfils my need to be productive; the enjoyment of planning, visioning and ultimately creating something beautiful from wonderful yarns; enabling me to switch off my buzzing mind and divert it to something more relaxing.

I've always said knitting is my yoga. It makes me feel balanced and centered. Like the ladies said in the video, knitting makes me happy. I get inspired by all of you out there who are knitting up items that are on my Wants List.

I couldn't imagine a day without knitting!

I am inspired to knit because it makes me feel better. More put together when I am on the verge of unraveling. No pun intended.

What inspires me to knit? A few things: 1, idle hands. I hate being bored. 2, i have always been crafty. Knitting just happens to be one i work harder at. 3, my Busha (grandma) knit, and taught my dad, who taught me. I was one of the last ones to talk to her before she died.

Knitting is so many things to me: creativity, joy, meditation, inspiration. It's my personal oasis of space to just 'be'. Isn't it just the most magical thing how it can be so many things to so many people!?

Andi, all your knitting looks so relaxing. With tea and lovely fibres I feel like you're always out on the porch in lovely weather knitting away.

So many different things inspire me to knit - new yarn, Pinterest, having a simple sock to work on when relaxing, having something challenging and rewarding to figure out... I just knit whenever and wherever I can! The biggest inspiration I think is colour - colour motivates me to best use it and show off whatever colourway it is! :)

Thank you so much for sharing that sweet video! I loved it. I find that I'm usually inspired by others' FOs as well. That and particularly beautiful skeins of yarn. :-)
