Happy Sunday!
Lovely Blood Orange tea from sweet Lisa. Delish!
How was your week? Mine was long, but now it's the weekend so really is there any need to complain? If you read my blog last Sunday then you may remember that I mentioned casting on all the things. I tried to protect the monogamous knitters out there by sparing them the details of all that I cast on. But alas, quite a few of you have spoken even going so far as to call me a tease (Steph!). So here goes...
Pattern: My own basic vanilla pattern Yarn: Spinning Fates Megara in the color Schrodinger's Cat.
I wouldn't be me, if a pair of self-striping socks weren't cast on. So they were.
Pattern: Rose City Rollers Yarn: Knitpicks Essential Tweed in Plum
In addition to the self-striping, I cast on a pair of Rose City Rollers socks. What a fun opportunity to use up some leftover sock yarn. Bonus The Knitting Room is having a short cuff sock KAL, so these babies had to be knit up.
Pattern: Raison Et Sentiments Yarn: Drops Alpaca Lace in light grey and Baby Alpaca Lace in Natural that a dear friend in England picked up for me a couple years ago.
Since a shawl just came off the needles (disregarding the fact that I still have three others on the needles), it was the perfect opportunity to cast on another. Like I really need another lace weight project. Ah, heck the world is our oyster, right? Back to the shawl that came off the needles, I will share FO pics and project details next week.
A new square for Sam's blanket project was cast on. Do little squares like this really count as a new cast-on? I am only telling as a full disclosure sort of thing.
Now honestly as I am posting all these pics and talking about them, it really doesn't feel like a huge amount of projects cast on. Maybe because I have never claimed or attempted to be monogamous. So the question is throw out there to you, would you consider four (soon to be five) projects a lot to cast on? Does it make you queasy or anxious? :) I always enjoying hearing what you think.
I will leave you now and get back to my mountain of WIPs. Send help if you don't hear from me next Sunday as an avalanche may have occurred.
Have the best day today
XO,
Andi
That seems totally reasonable to me and they are all so beautiful I can see why you couldn't resist! I'm sort of planning to work through a few WIPs now my summer holidays started and their is no work to get in e way but I cast on something new last night and am still winding new yarn cakes and checking out Ravelry so I think I might be beyond help! :)

Hi Andi- you can NEVER have enough WIPs in my humble opinion! I currently have 4 and I flit from one to the other like a rather charming butterfly doing a bit here and a bit there..... I see myself as the Luna Lovegood of the knitting world! Happy happy!!! xxx

4 isn't that much considering there's 2 pair of socks (which honestly I don't count as current WIP, being tiny and all haha) That raison & sentiments is gorgeous!!! I just love how it's a shawl you can wear as a scarf!!

Dear Andi, hope you will have some rest from your long week. All your new projects are lovely, especially the pink and grey sock yarn. Anything grey and pink combo looks everytime so pretty! Oh and the shawl will be so gorgeous ! Can't wait to see it!
Wishing you a happy Sunday!

Ahhhh... I am usually a finisher of projects before casting on too many others... I like a simple one and a more challenging one going at the same time. HOWEVER, I have on my needles at this moment: two sweaters, an afghan and a baby dress that I just cast on yesterday! Not to mention the crochet shawl that I am in the midst of and a few little dishcloths. Ha! (of course we will not mention the silk shrug I started two summers ago that haunts me). LOL! Have a wonderful week, Andi! blessings ~ tanna

You make me laugh. Yes, all those projects make my heart beat a little bit faster. I have blanket on the needles, but it's in time out until cooler weather and one shawl that
I am working on. I did knit a gauge swatch last night for a cardigan pullover I am going to cast on, but I really would like to finish my shawl first. In the past I have had three projects going at once, but it made me jittery so I do better focusing on one project at a time.
Have fun!

I like having options and really dislike the cast-on process, so I completely understand a cast on all the things type mood. That said, five would probably start to make me anxious. Do you keep them in different places? eg car knitting

I don't dare casting on too many projects, afraid that some might never get finished and accusingly keep lurking at the back of my mind.. Also, I am not always too good on taking notes, ahum, so if a project lingers too long, like for instant a certain cardigan I am/was working on, I might have to frog it because I don't remember what modifications I made during the process...
I do like to have at least one pair of socks on the needles though, regardless what else, so I always have something portable. Maybe socks just don't count when adding up the amount of WIPs one has ?

I am a one (or maybe two) at a time knitter. But, I don't get apoplexy if you want to cast one more.
As a matter of fact ......I'm IMPRESSED! I don't know why, but having multiple projects stresses me out.
But, I sure do like watching other people go to town on multiples! LOL

Would 18 plus be considered too many?? If so, I'm in big trouble - LOL!

I love the pink and grey sock yarn! I usually have 3 or 4 projects cast on at once. You are fine ;) Happy knitting!

Four-five projects don't sound like the end of the world to me.I do tend to cast on a lot, but then gradually concentrate on one by one, without getting to the ones in progress. So I guess I am almost a monogamous knitter and a polygamous cast-oner :) Have a great Sunday!

How funny!! I wish I could cast on so many projects, but lately, in my busy life, I can hardly knit even one thing at a time. But from what I can see from your pictures, I do not think you could HELP casting on all of them! What great projects ;)

love your new sock colors!! so soft and so very very you :) I am savoring the one project on my needles while contemplating a massive cast on :)

I must have 10 going right now. Most are keepers, so I work hardest on the projects I give away. Currently working on a lap blanket for my 87 year-old dad. Washable, with flecks of maroon to match his red leather chair! Love your postings!

First, I LOVE the Schrodinger's Cat self striping yarn! Wow. I've only been knitting just over a year but I've (so far) been a monogamous knitter. I doubt I'd get many projects finished if I cast on more than one. It's difficult sometimes too -- there have been a couple projects I've done that I wanted so badly to quit but I'd break that promise with myself to never start a new one until the previous is complete. Weird, right?

do you know...i have nothing on my needles at the moment? it is like being naked in public. I shall just cover my shame with your cast ons until I can get my own done. such joy here, such optimism, I do so love to visit.

Have you seen the episode of Portlandia where the character is in a technology loop? With 5 WIPs, I'd be in a project loop. Knitting a stitch here and there, never making any progress.

Hi Andi,
Well, at least you're working on your WIPs :) with all my Tour de Fleece spinning, I haven't knit much at all last week. Looking forward to seeing your finished shawl!

I think all those cast ons are entirely reasonable (as she casts on more of her own projects). I think there needs to be a project for every occasion - hence your need to cast on a new shawl, new stripey socks and more 'interest factor' socks was very much recognised at this end. :-)

I'm a monogamous knitting but after just completely a massive cable knit blanket that took over 3 months - wow it gets so so so boring to just knit away on the same thing day after day. Now that it's done I'm going to mix things up a bit and try making a few things at the same time!

Looks like some great projects you've got started! I love the colors for your new shawl-so light and delicate! Enjoy all your projects-my own WIP pile is well into the double digits now!
