Happy Sunday to you!
It feels like forever since we had a proper chat. First off, how are you and how was your week?

Did you squeeze some knitting into your days and nights? I did because I put myself on a sort of knitting schedule.
For some life is busy and yarn-time is hard to come by, sometimes to the point where maybe late night knitting comes into play. I have the opposite problem. While I do have a 9-5, I find myself having to rein in my knitting time. What a problem to have, right? When I get home from work, I could easily sit down and knit till bedtime, despite things like laundry and dishes stacking up. So I came up with a plan to treat my stitches as a prize where if I do all my "chores", I can then sit down and let the needles to click away. Then there are projects that tend to monopolize my knit time like the sock yarn blanket, and in cases like this I make it my Sunday only project which can be worked on after housework has been completed. Sounds like a plan to me. :)
Do you ever find yourself having to schedule your knitting time into your non-knitting life?
Enjoy a lovely video and have the best day today!

XO,

Chores first, plus car knitting. Love the yarn and that's such a pretty pattern. Love the Dr Who theme.

I don't really follow a schedule.
But, I will admit, sometimes knitting takes precedence over housework. It certainly is more FUN! ;-)
The purple-y sock is so pretty!

Of all the adjectives we tea lovers can use to describe our tea, I can now add pretty; that is one pretty cup of tea. It looks divine. I haven't tried scheduling my knitting, but that might help my spring cleaning get done. Love the sock yarn and the video made my morning:) Thanks Andi!

While I am home most days I place certain restrictions on myself so that my home work is completed. I can knit before 7 a.m. and then I am 'allowed' to knit after all my to do list is complete. I know my guys wouldn't care, but I have a wee bit of a type A personality when it comes to my home.
Happy knitting.

Andi how weird that I was looking for a blanket pattern to use up sock yarn and there is is. I have knit that pattern on an Aran blanket very fortuitous. We have a windmill locally at our summer residence( how grand does that sound?. It's actually just down the road in Alford on the Lincolnshire coast where we have our caravan). It grinds grain for flour and is fascinating to watch. But there's nothing quite like the sound of the sails going around.

If left to my own devices, I would definitely have to rein in my knitting time. Don't tell, but this week I am secretly taking a vacation day while my child is on school so I can have a knitting day. Late night knitting just isn't cutting it. Ssshhhh.

Oh yeah work and the boys and housecare are cutting in to my knitting time...alot. If I could only knit allday life would be bliss, but there have to be boundries somewhere....some days I don't listen to them and just knit away, usually it comes back to bite me on the a.. later.

I'm A type about the state of my home since my apt is small. So it's housework first (most of the times LOL) then crafting. Not going to lie at times I get side tracked but I'm working on this week's schedule so I don't get side tracked -- balance is everything. Lol!

With my kids out of the house, I have to limit my knitting time or I'd get nothing else done! But I find that knitting is the perfect tonic after a rough day at work.

That's awesome that you sorted out a good system for making sure you don't end up doing nothing but knitting (which is tempting!). The video of the wind knitting factory was incredible- talk about every single aspect of making! I can't believe they even grind their own pigments for dye. crazy amazing.

I try my best to knit every single day, most of the times I achieve that goal. If I miss one day I'm okay if I miss two or more, I'm kind of grumpy :)

absolutely....but i've also used it to HELP me get things done. It takes me 20 minutes to knit a mitered square....if dinner takes 40 minutes in the oven, then I 'set the timer' and knit 2 squares. :)

You are so disciplined. I could take a page from your book. I like the new sock yarn color.

I travel to work by train. That's my scheduled knitting time.

Being semi retired I allow myself the luxury of a second cup of coffee and knitting time until 8:00am then up and at my house to do list. Usually I treat myself to tea and more knitting in the afternoon until time ti start dinner. After dinner it's reading or podcast knitting.

This year knitting has become my first priority. Housekeeping follows. Like I've told my man "Do you want a clean home or a happy home?"
He chose happy! ;-)

I usually knit in the evenings after dinner. If I get my family and household activities, yard work, and daily walk out of the way before dinner prep, I knit or read a little. Being retired is a boon to my knitting time.

I list my chores for the day, and try to alternate 1 chore at a time, with some knitting in between. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget to get back to the chores...

I have to do the same thing, chores first then knitting! It really does feel great to knit in a clean house.

I don't have a 9-5 so I really have to make sure I get other stuff done besides knitting. I make myself to-do lists and try to get stuff checked of the list everyday before my knitting time takes over. Some days that still doesn't work and I mostly knit, especially when I'm really into a project.

Oh, yes indeed! I do schedule my knitting. I schedule for deadlines. I schedule my UFOs. I even schedule to get me out of the occasional pit of boredom. My chores don't really interfere with my knitting. My dust bunnies don't mind at all.

I've been trying to make sure I find knitting time each week. Work had been difficult last year and I was putting in crazy hours to try to stay on top of it. It wasn't successful and I wasn't happy. I really need the downtime and satisfaction that comes with knitting. While work is still nutty I try and find time a couple of evenings each week to craft and work on something that brings joy and peace of mind.

I keep meaning to ask you: how do you wash your sock yarn blanket once it's finished? It's coming along beautifully! I'm waiting until we move to start mine.
The reward system is a great way to squeeze in that knitting time. I do that too. Among others, I have the main projects I work on: one "travel" project - & it has to be an easy one as my bus rides to & from work are quick ones - & one to work on as my reward knitting at home. But some days, you just have to say, "To hell with housework!" & knit! :p

I try to schedule my knitting but it's hard when the beautiful yarn is calling you. I must say that I try to do the chores but with having active kids, I make sure to have a portable knitting project to take to their activities. Socks are my favorite portable project.

The reward system sounds great! I generally knit during my lunch breaks, and then more in the evenings. Fortunately with three adults in my house, no one has a super big housework load :)
