Hello loves and happy Sunday! Feels like it has been a while since we chatted and for good reason we had a wonderful sock series posts. I really want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guests Staci, Jesse and Mina. It was such a treat to be able to learn more about socks, be inspired by gorgeous photos and get some new ideas. In addition thank you for all who commented!
Normally we chat about my months of loves, but instead this month I plan on closing out with a giveaway? How does that sound? :) We will get to that in a bit. First how about some knit happenings.
Summer months have caused my knitting to slow down a smidge. For some reason during these warmer months that been accompanied with record breaking temps, I have been reaching for the tea and a good book more often.
Pattern~ Pebbles by Mina Phillips Yarn~ AndreSueKnits in the color Puddle Jumper
My go-to Summer knitting projects are getting some love and of course they are socks. Why of course? Primarily for reasons we all know, portability and the fact that no warm wool is sitting on my lap.
Wonderful mini skein and tea swap packages received from lovely international friends! Which resulted in some delicious new to me teas being samples and coveted.
Here is the only problem with swaps where you receive teas that you can't get in the US...you can't get them in the US. I am going to put this out there and see if any of my overseas friends can help. I am obsessed with the Taylors of Harrogate Rose Lemonade Infusion and would like to know if someone would be interested in a tea swap with me? Let me know. :)
Enough rambling about my happenings, how about a giveaway? In honor of this month's Sock Series I have some treats for one lucky person.
Ebook ~Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 by Mina Phillips.
A skein of Opal Smile sock yarn, The Sock Ruler, Ebook Beyond Vanilla Socks and Tuft Woolens Hand Balm in the scent Royal Apiary. I will also be throwing in few extra goodies not pictured here.
If you would like to be entered in this giveaway leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about knitting socks. This giveaway is open world-wide and will close July 16th at midnight PST. The winner will be drawn and selected via random number generator on July 17th.
Sending you all much love and wishing you the best day today!
XO,
Andi
What a lovely question about knitting socks - I love that there are so many options in just one small package. Options for colours, patterns, methods, length - nothing ever gets boring when knitting socks, it's so easy to mix things up. I also love the fact that a plain old pair of vanilla socks can lead me into a feeling of: 'switch my brain off, and breathe into a rhythm' anyplace at all because they're small, portable and almost impossible to be without!

My favorite thing about knitting socks is that there are so many different, amazing combinations of yarn and patterns out there - it's never, ever boring! I'm doing the Tour de Sock on Ravelry right now, and I've learned so many new techniques AND found a great pattern that uses very colorful short-color repeat yarn.

I have just finished knitting my first pair of socks - taught myself with the help of some good blogs and YouTube. So far my favourite part is the end result - I have 2 gorgeous matching socks which fit perfectly - I'm looking forward to wearing when the weather gets colder. Onward and upward to my next pair!

I also live in AZ but have yet to try sock knitting. It's my next project after I finish a scarf for a friend moving to England. Hopefully she'll get some use out of it there, unlike here :)

Knitting socks is so great for me. Started only last year but I like to try new patterns all the time. The problem is that you always need new sock yarn and new colors and new combinations....

My favourite thing is the portability and ease of knitting. I always have at least one pair in my handbag and several more on the go.

I love knitting socks because they are so portable and mindless! I can carry a sock project in my purse, pull it out on the streetcar on my way to work, and not worry about losing my place in the pattern when we arrive at my stop.
Thanks for the giveaway, Andi! Happy July :)

Socks are such fun to knit. They can be mindless or highly technical and when they are done they are useful. What could be better...

I love that socks are quick and portable and are a great use for those awesome colours that don't work well for other things!

You are so generous! The best thing about sock knitting is the usefulness of the socks! Especially here in Canada in the winter months.

Sock knitting is just plain fun. Easy to transport for those times that you can get a little knitting done. The sock yarns available are so pretty! Great giveaway! Chels chelsey b 5 at aol dot com

On the same day I finish one pair, within half an hour I am already casting on the next pair. They come in lovely colours, you get to choose yarn, colour, pattern, size... you can improvize and modify as much as you want... and they feel divine on your feet! I am so pleased to give the socks I made to other people... not because they're perfect, far from it, but because a lot of love goes into each one of them...time , effort, commitment and I guess somehow other people feel that. They are THE BEST on a cold winter morning...

I love knitting socks because I FINALLY found a gift my brother who has everything goes bonkers for. Of course he asked for 12 pairs this year but he also bought all the yarn.

Well, I've actually never knit socks before. I've knit many things but socks have always seemed out of reach, too hard. Ridiculous thinking I know. I have become very tired of darning cheap (expensive) socks from chain stores.I am taking up my double points, some Tosh sock yarn, and a bit of determination. While I may not love sock knitting(yet) I love this blog for making it seem fun & doable!

There are so many things to live about knitting socks! Portability, variety of patterns, and of course wearing the finished product!

It's hard to pick one thing that I love about knitting socks. They are great carry-around projects and I have a small project bag labeled SOX so no one can mistake what they are. They finish in a short time. I love the colors and prints the yarn comes in. The wilder, the better. There are always several sox going in my knitting basket.

Two things I love about sock knitting: visible progress very quickly and self striping yarns!!

Hand knit socks just make me feel happy. Everything from the colour choice to the end product of having a hand knit hug your feet - what's not to love? Thanks for the great giveaway.

My favorite thing about sock knitting is how socks are like finger prints for knitters. So many different stitches and ways to complete each part of the sock that everyone has their own specialty.

There are two things I love most about sock knitting--number one is the vibrant, zany, fun colors sock yarn comes in-- and number two is that turning a heel makes me feel like some kind of magical knitting rock star, no matter how many times I do it!

My favourite thing about knitting socks is the variety. Pattern, yarn choice, heel choice, toe choice, cuff down, tow up, two at a time, magic loop, DPNs... the choices are endless!

Sock knitting is so easy and portable! It can be done in stages, and it is always fun to knit it!

My favorite thing about sock knitting is certainly that they are small but challenging and can be either super basic of very complicated depending on your mood. I also love that socks are needed and worn by all and therefore no matter how many you make...someone will always appreciate them.
