Hello loves and happy Sunday! Feels like it has been a while since we chatted and for good reason we had a wonderful sock series posts. I really want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guests Staci, Jesse and Mina. It was such a treat to be able to learn more about socks, be inspired by gorgeous photos and get some new ideas. In addition thank you for all who commented!
Normally we chat about my months of loves, but instead this month I plan on closing out with a giveaway? How does that sound? :) We will get to that in a bit. First how about some knit happenings.
Summer months have caused my knitting to slow down a smidge. For some reason during these warmer months that been accompanied with record breaking temps, I have been reaching for the tea and a good book more often.
Pattern~ Pebbles by Mina Phillips Yarn~ AndreSueKnits in the color Puddle Jumper
My go-to Summer knitting projects are getting some love and of course they are socks. Why of course? Primarily for reasons we all know, portability and the fact that no warm wool is sitting on my lap.
Wonderful mini skein and tea swap packages received from lovely international friends! Which resulted in some delicious new to me teas being samples and coveted.
Here is the only problem with swaps where you receive teas that you can't get in the US...you can't get them in the US. I am going to put this out there and see if any of my overseas friends can help. I am obsessed with the Taylors of Harrogate Rose Lemonade Infusion and would like to know if someone would be interested in a tea swap with me? Let me know. :)
Enough rambling about my happenings, how about a giveaway? In honor of this month's Sock Series I have some treats for one lucky person.
Ebook ~Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 by Mina Phillips.
A skein of Opal Smile sock yarn, The Sock Ruler, Ebook Beyond Vanilla Socks and Tuft Woolens Hand Balm in the scent Royal Apiary. I will also be throwing in few extra goodies not pictured here.
If you would like to be entered in this giveaway leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about knitting socks. This giveaway is open world-wide and will close July 16th at midnight PST. The winner will be drawn and selected via random number generator on July 17th.
Sending you all much love and wishing you the best day today!
XO,
Andi
My husband says the favorite part must be the toes because you are done! lol My favorite thing about them at moment is this....my friend saw me knitting a sock yesterday and asked if I would knit her a pair. I said I'd love to, when I get a bit more practise in at them, because things are still a bit wobbly on a couple of spots. She was happy with that, then I could see she was thinking about something. She said that I looked happy knitting on the sock and she asked me if I would teach her how to knit. I very excitedly said YES! We've picked out a hat pattern and she's got some yarn and needles on order. We are both super excited about her soon to be new knitter status. Soooooo....I'm soon to be able to pass on my joy of knitting....which is my favorite part of knitting socks!

What do I love about knitting socks? Mainly three things........portability, the yarns (!), and cost effective (for the most part).

Your sock series has been amazing! I love knitting socks because they're some of the only knitted things that get worn out, so I can always justify buying sock yarn or casting on a new sock. Also, they're a great way to productively use time in waiting rooms and lines and such.

There are so many wonderful sock yarns that I can envision being made into various sock patterns! The possibilities are endless! Thanks for the giveaway:) mamagiff on ravelry

I love knitting socks because it is so portable, can put down/pick up just about anywhere, some parts are tricky enough to warrant a little thought and stimulation while others are sail through mindlessly, I love all the colors and stripes and patterns of sock yarns, you usually only have to buy 1 skein so they can be a bit of indulgence, and I love wearing them - so cozy and comfy.

I love knitted socks - the portability when knitting; the warmth in the winter; and the multitude of fiber options available, especially cashmere. i always have socks on my needles!

The best thing about knitting socks is getting to wear them afterwards! There is nothing quite like a hand knit sock on a cold Canadian day.

Socks are just plain fun and everyone wears them!
Posted by: Pam Beecy | 06/26/2016 at 10:22 AM
Wearing them!!! I also love the yarns, the portability, how quick they are with even modest attention, and how clever non-knitters think you are ๐.

I love sock knitting, because there are variety of patterns and beautiful yarns. And it's quite short time to knit socks compared to other things like sweaters.
Apropos I enjoyed your last artikels about knitting socks from some sock knitters!

No single thing is the best - I love choosing the yarn, and what a choice there is; the feel of knitting them ( I love using small needles in the round and fine yarn ); the sensation of wearing them and the fact that of all the patterns and pictures and articles and blogs I have seen and read there doesn't seem to be 2 pairs alike! ๐ thank you for this opportunity to knit another unique pair of socks.

They are portable and mostly mindless. This makes them great to take with you to work on just about anywhere. And at the end of it you have a practical finished object.

Having a drawerful of hand knit socks.

You are going to laugh, but to me, the best thing about knitting socks is that there is no seaming. When you are done knitting, just hide the ends and you are done. None of the pesky, often, for me, messy sewing up seams.

I'm interested in sock knitting but haven't mustered up the nerve to try them. After reading your entries this month, I'm inspired to cast on a pair!

I recently learned sock knitting from my new friend, I really enjoy the fact that when I look at the finished product, I can't believe that I made a heel, with 2 straight needles!! Now I'm on my third pair, more to come.

(Now I want to try some of that infusion as well ... )
I love knitting socks because they are fun to knit all year round, there are so many amazing sock yarns, and I love to give them as gifts because people are so amazed that you MADE socks!
:-)

What I really love about socks is the fact that I spend so much time to choose the pattern, choose the yarn, knit them to fit perfectly, perhaps try a different heel this time? We do all these to end up with something that we staff in our shoes, nobody sees and you could buy for less than half the yarn's price. But we still love it!
For me learning to knit socks was life changing!
If I can do this, I can do anything!

I love the portability of knitting socks! I just returned from a trip to Africa where my sock knitting started many conversations in airports and in bush camps. I met lots of nice people and finished 1 1/2 socks!

The best thing about knitting socks is making something by hand for either yourself or another, and knowing that your craft is making someone's feet happy and warm. It is meditation that shows a tangible result.

They are small therefore don't use much yarn so I can afford to make them with yarns I wouldn't choose for a larger garment.

My favorite part about knitting socks is turning the heel! So fun! So magical! Of course a completed pair of socks is my second favorite thing! ๐

I love how portable they are. Being able to pull socks out of my purse and work on them in line is the only way I stay sane!!

Always a pair on the needles, right now 2 pairs are being worked on. You can always use a new pair of socks. People like to receive them. I just like knitting socks.

Just round and round and round socks are so relaxing and meditative. I love knitting socks
