Hello loves and happy Sunday! Feels like it has been a while since we chatted and for good reason we had a wonderful sock series posts. I really want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guests Staci, Jesse and Mina. It was such a treat to be able to learn more about socks, be inspired by gorgeous photos and get some new ideas. In addition thank you for all who commented!
Normally we chat about my months of loves, but instead this month I plan on closing out with a giveaway? How does that sound? :) We will get to that in a bit. First how about some knit happenings.
Summer months have caused my knitting to slow down a smidge. For some reason during these warmer months that been accompanied with record breaking temps, I have been reaching for the tea and a good book more often.
Pattern~ Pebbles by Mina Phillips Yarn~ AndreSueKnits in the color Puddle Jumper
My go-to Summer knitting projects are getting some love and of course they are socks. Why of course? Primarily for reasons we all know, portability and the fact that no warm wool is sitting on my lap.
Wonderful mini skein and tea swap packages received from lovely international friends! Which resulted in some delicious new to me teas being samples and coveted.
Here is the only problem with swaps where you receive teas that you can't get in the US...you can't get them in the US. I am going to put this out there and see if any of my overseas friends can help. I am obsessed with the Taylors of Harrogate Rose Lemonade Infusion and would like to know if someone would be interested in a tea swap with me? Let me know. :)
Enough rambling about my happenings, how about a giveaway? In honor of this month's Sock Series I have some treats for one lucky person.
Ebook ~Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 by Mina Phillips.
A skein of Opal Smile sock yarn, The Sock Ruler, Ebook Beyond Vanilla Socks and Tuft Woolens Hand Balm in the scent Royal Apiary. I will also be throwing in few extra goodies not pictured here.
If you would like to be entered in this giveaway leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about knitting socks. This giveaway is open world-wide and will close July 16th at midnight PST. The winner will be drawn and selected via random number generator on July 17th.
Sending you all much love and wishing you the best day today!
XO,
Andi
The best thing about knitting socks is seeing the sock grow before your eyes, see the pattern develop and (working cuff down) the magic of the heel!

My favorite part of socks are turning the heels. Toe up, top down, with or without a gusset, w&t, fish lips, k2tog/p2tog over the gaps. They're all wonderful and it's magical that when you're done you're knitting in the other direction!

At 63 I'm as new to sock knitting as one can be. I've knitted just one pair.
But I feel hooked. My friends loved them and started asking me to knit some for them too.
So, I feel like I've just joined a new community

My favorite thing about sock knitting is finding the perfect yarn with the perfect yarn name for the recipient of the finished socks. For example, discovering that Blue Moon Fiber Arts has yarn called The Hobbit's Garden, for my son who adores all things Tolkien. Joy!

I am addicted to knitting for so many reasons and knitting socks is my go to project. I agree with many of the posters - it's portable, watching the yarn unfold its patterns is magic, there are a number of amazing patterns to choose from, and it's fun to wow other people who watch you knit them. But by far the best thing about knitting socks is putting them on your feet and wearing them. Nothing beats the fit of a hand knit sock.

The best part of knitting socks is then wearing them! I also enjoy knitting socks out of wildly colored yarn .

I love socks because they're so constant-even if they're a new pattern, it's always cuff, leg, heel, foot, toe (at least if you're dedicated cuff-down like me!). Even when I can't think about anything else, my hands can knit a sock on autopilot, and that's incredibly comforting.

Hello! My favorite thing about knitting socks is being about to carry them around and pull them out at any time. I finished the cuff of a sock in line at the FedEx store last week.

I actually have not knit socks. I have knit a Christmas stocking but not a pair that you wear. I have always been intrigued but have not been adventurous enough to try dpns or the loop method. I need to learn because everyone says that sock knitting is fabulous.

I find knitting socks so soothing, and I can make them in all sorts of fun colours that I would never wear as a garment, but the fact that they are hidden inside my boots makes me smile.

I am on my 5th pair only. However I have knit toe up,cuff down and both circular and flat methods.I can tailor to my small but wide feet. The yarns available are amazing and gorgeous.Socks are very portable.I am now knitting yoga socks for my sister in law.

There are so many things I love about sock knitting. When I first learned to knit, socks were at the top of my knitting bucket list. I love the sock yarn that is available. So many different colors and patterns. I love the portability of socks. I can knit them pretty much anywhere. I love that there are so many sock patterns and ways to knit socks. I love how therapeutic a pair of plain vanilla socks are to knit. Sock knitting is comfort knitting for me.

My favorite thing about sock knitting is that it is the only thing I've found to be able to gift knit for my family who lives in warm climates!

I love all the lovely self-striping yarns, and the near instant gratification that comes with knitting socks.

Socks are my favorite thing to knit because the end result is at once practical and impressive. Hand knit socks are like a hug for your feet. I LOVED your sock series! (But, then I look forward to every Sunday and all of your posts ♥.)

How nice of you! I love sock knitting because of the wonderful yarn available, but the best thing is the end product! Is there anything better on your feet than a pair of well made hand knit socks.
Posted by: Cathy | 06/26/2016 at 02:36 PM
I love knitting socks because they are fast and can be as complicated or as simple as you want to make them. I love that it doesn't matter what color you make them so they can be as funky as you want.
Posted by: Megan | 06/26/2016 at 02:43 PM
I can take them on the plane to visit my 4 grand babies in Denver !!

Those are some goodies. I love your version of the Pebbles sock pattern. The colorway really goes well w/it.
I love sock knitting. It's so soothing. I think it's because it's a small project and it's fun to see each part of a sock develop. It's like knitting up a puzzle or being a sock engineer where your needles magically crank out stitch by stitch that all come together to make up a sock. I hope this all makes sense. My peepers are sleepy during this time of the day and the husband and I power walked in a nearby regional park, burning off one doughnut from this morning.

Wow there are so many things about socks but i guess that they knit fairly quickly so that you can get to the next sock. lol

My favorite thing about knitting socks? It doesn't matter if you gain a few pounds.....socks still fit!
Posted by: Cindy Williams | 06/26/2016 at 03:24 PM
Best thing about knitting socks is the fantastic selection of yarns. It is so difficult to resist buying just one more skein!
Posted by: Marge | 06/26/2016 at 03:48 PM
Loved the sock series, thank you! I love knitting socks because they are small, everyone always needs them, the yarn is so varied, you can go wild with socks, and they are so easy to take with me wherever I go!

I love knitting socks because it feels so dainty--even knitting my husband's size 13's! Plus who can say no to sock yarn.
P.s. just found your blog and am really enjoying it.
