Hello loves and happy Sunday! Feels like it has been a while since we chatted and for good reason we had a wonderful sock series posts. I really want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guests Staci, Jesse and Mina. It was such a treat to be able to learn more about socks, be inspired by gorgeous photos and get some new ideas. In addition thank you for all who commented!
Normally we chat about my months of loves, but instead this month I plan on closing out with a giveaway? How does that sound? :) We will get to that in a bit. First how about some knit happenings.
Summer months have caused my knitting to slow down a smidge. For some reason during these warmer months that been accompanied with record breaking temps, I have been reaching for the tea and a good book more often.
Pattern~ Pebbles by Mina Phillips Yarn~ AndreSueKnits in the color Puddle Jumper
My go-to Summer knitting projects are getting some love and of course they are socks. Why of course? Primarily for reasons we all know, portability and the fact that no warm wool is sitting on my lap.
Wonderful mini skein and tea swap packages received from lovely international friends! Which resulted in some delicious new to me teas being samples and coveted.
Here is the only problem with swaps where you receive teas that you can't get in the US...you can't get them in the US. I am going to put this out there and see if any of my overseas friends can help. I am obsessed with the Taylors of Harrogate Rose Lemonade Infusion and would like to know if someone would be interested in a tea swap with me? Let me know. :)
Enough rambling about my happenings, how about a giveaway? In honor of this month's Sock Series I have some treats for one lucky person.
Ebook ~Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 by Mina Phillips.
A skein of Opal Smile sock yarn, The Sock Ruler, Ebook Beyond Vanilla Socks and Tuft Woolens Hand Balm in the scent Royal Apiary. I will also be throwing in few extra goodies not pictured here.
If you would like to be entered in this giveaway leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about knitting socks. This giveaway is open world-wide and will close July 16th at midnight PST. The winner will be drawn and selected via random number generator on July 17th.
Sending you all much love and wishing you the best day today!
XO,
Andi
My favorite thing about knitting socks is the yarn - I never know what they are going to look like until I start. I've had quite a few unexpected surprises, but have loved every pair. Socks & mittens are my favorite all-time knits, no matter what time of year.

Socks are my fav thing to knit due to portability, ability to socialize while knitting them and I love wearing them in the cold winters in Canada.
Happy knitting!

I've never knit socks, but I think this winter I'd like to start. There's just something so homely and cozy about them.

WOw a great giveaway. My favorite thing about sock knitting is the body between the gusset and the toes. Its knit straightaway. I love good socks that are hand knit

I love to take my sock knitting to the movies. I often go with my sister so the socks, once complete, carry good memories of the meals, tears and laughter we've shared.
Other pairs have been knitted while on holidays and carry the memories of good times shared with my husband and kids.
Extra warmth in each stitch.

I love knitting socks. They were the only thing I knit for the first 5 years after I re-discovered knitting. That all changed with our first grandchild.

My favourite thing about knitting socks, is that I can make socks that fit my small feet!

I just started knitting socks on May 1 and I have already knit 4 pairs. What I like best right now is that there are so many different patterns and techniques to try. The variety is amazing.

Hello just found your blog. I love to knit I have been slowly trying to learn new techniques a year ago I started my first pair of socks. I am slow but I love to watch the sock emerge from my needles. Wish I was a faster knitter but happy none the less to sit and knit.

I love being able to knit something so practical and colorful that I know my husband will wear! A man-sized sweater takes forever, but man-sized socks take just a bit longer than socks for me.

My favorite thing about socks is that you can knit any colorway. It doesn't matter if it's a color that looks horrible on you; who cares that it looks like crayons in a blender? They don't have to match a wardrobe item or anything else. You just have to like the color. ;)

I think I would knit socks anyway as they are portable and ideal for mindless tv knitting but I'm knitting them a lot because I can't stop buying sock yarn!Just today I worked out I had enough sock yarn for the rest of the year and then I came across a new dyer and before you could say" how many socks do you need" I'd bought it!

Conveniently portable knitting! I love sock knitting you can take them anywhere, just put in your pocket! Perfect for carrying around to all the places you need to taxi kids making your wait a productive one. Also, the added bonus is that the scraps of wool you are left with on finishing your socks can be knitted into your scrappy blanket! Win! Win!

Knitting socks makes me look like a Grand Wizard to the non-knitting muggles :) What's not to love?

What a lovely giveaway - thank you!
I love so many things about knitting socks - there are so many colors I love that I might not wear (especially in the office), so having them on my feet is perfect. And with a long commute, socks are the perfect bit of knitting to take with me - they don't take up much space in my bag or while I'm knitting, and they're easy to pick up and put down (since I use magic loop).

I think for me the best thing about knitting socks is the amazing range of sock yarns ! It's so much easier / less daunting to go crazy with colors and style on a smaller project...

Being able to wear wild and wacky colours that I would not choose otherwise. Great giveaway xxx

I love knitting socks because of all the wonderful choices of sock yarn. And they make great gifts!

I love knitting socks. It is all about the yarn. I feel absolutely no guilt when grabbing a skein of sock yarn. I know it will get used, its only one skein (even though i have about 20 in line to be used ) and the variety of colors/stripes is what makes it the best. it is the summer of socks for me too!

I like being able to knit anywhere - I just tuck them into my purse and off I go - to the beach, diner, my daughters house. . . I like shopping for the yarn too and using wild colors.

I knit my first pair of socks about a year ago for my now 9 year old daughter and have been hooked ever since. I love how affordable knitting socks can be. I can get one skein of a fairly luxe hand dyed yarn and still have a beautiful project complete from that one skein for one of loved ones. It gives me great pleasure seeing my girl enjoy something I have hand knit for her that took me relatively little time to make.

Hi Andi! The sound of Rose Lemonade tea...just yum. I tend to mix Strawberry Paraiso with Earl Grey from Teavana. It's cooler here in Northern CA in the morning, so I drink one hot cup in the morning and make an extra for an iced tea for later in the afternoon. One of my favorite things about knitting socks is that I learn something new with every pair. I've only knitted a few pair / frogged a couple too, so it's all new to me :) They are also a fantastic portable project!

I love knitting socks because of the personalized fit. After my first pair I was hooked! I love self striping yarn.

It's always tough to pick favorites when it comes to knitting...but it might be the feel of hand knit socks warming my feet on the coldest Minnesota mornings. It makes it that much easier to get out of bed and face the day when you know your feet are well covered :)

Oh my goodness, yes! Those swap packages are FABULOUS! My own knitting has turned to lace and birthday gifts. I plan on starting one or two of my Christmas knitting projects as well, since i've been gathering patterns and tarn for a few months now. The first (and largest) will be a Griffendor hoodie knit in bulky yarn. I also have been itching to start up my beekeeper's quilt again. And I need to branch out my teas! Thanks again for your lovely post!
