Hello loves and happy Sunday! Feels like it has been a while since we chatted and for good reason we had a wonderful sock series posts. I really want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guests Staci, Jesse and Mina. It was such a treat to be able to learn more about socks, be inspired by gorgeous photos and get some new ideas. In addition thank you for all who commented!
Normally we chat about my months of loves, but instead this month I plan on closing out with a giveaway? How does that sound? :) We will get to that in a bit. First how about some knit happenings.
Summer months have caused my knitting to slow down a smidge. For some reason during these warmer months that been accompanied with record breaking temps, I have been reaching for the tea and a good book more often.
Pattern~ Pebbles by Mina Phillips Yarn~ AndreSueKnits in the color Puddle Jumper
My go-to Summer knitting projects are getting some love and of course they are socks. Why of course? Primarily for reasons we all know, portability and the fact that no warm wool is sitting on my lap.
Wonderful mini skein and tea swap packages received from lovely international friends! Which resulted in some delicious new to me teas being samples and coveted.
Here is the only problem with swaps where you receive teas that you can't get in the US...you can't get them in the US. I am going to put this out there and see if any of my overseas friends can help. I am obsessed with the Taylors of Harrogate Rose Lemonade Infusion and would like to know if someone would be interested in a tea swap with me? Let me know. :)
Enough rambling about my happenings, how about a giveaway? In honor of this month's Sock Series I have some treats for one lucky person.
Ebook ~Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 by Mina Phillips.
A skein of Opal Smile sock yarn, The Sock Ruler, Ebook Beyond Vanilla Socks and Tuft Woolens Hand Balm in the scent Royal Apiary. I will also be throwing in few extra goodies not pictured here.
If you would like to be entered in this giveaway leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about knitting socks. This giveaway is open world-wide and will close July 16th at midnight PST. The winner will be drawn and selected via random number generator on July 17th.
Sending you all much love and wishing you the best day today!
XO,
Andi
I love to knit socks! I always have at least 2-3 pairs on the needles and never leave home without a cute project bag with a pair in progress. Sock yarn is so amazing and you can never have too many skeins!

I love knitting socks as they don't take too long to make, they are the nicest thing for your feet and you can buy lots of yarn as they don't take too much, so you need lots of choice ๐๐๐

I'm not quite sure how I haven't seen a sock ruler before but it's an "aha!" moment for sure! Thank you!

Hey, hear about discovering new teas!!! One of the drawbacks of the swaps, is you try new teas and new yarn, & you want to get the, & sometimes it's harder than you think!!
I enjoy sock knitting as it's portable, & you can try highly variegated or highly colorful yarns, that otherwise would not be suitable other than for socks, & they look brilliant!!

Socks! What's not to like? The colors, the patterns, the compliments, the satisfaction!

I love how you can carry your project in a tiny bag and pull it out anywhere. By the way, I love that you had Flora & Ulysses pictures above. That was one of the books chosen for our school district's Elementary Battle of Books. I work in an elementary library, so I read all of the books chosen. Flora & Ulysses was a fun read! :)

Why knit socks? Because they don't take a lot of time or room, can experiment with patterns and they impress the heck out of non-knitters!! Also, when I'm frustrated or have made a mistake, they take up very little room in the Abandoned Projects Drawer!!

I love to knit socks because they are the only way I can keep my feet warm in the winter!

I love that socks break down into small goals - the cuff / leg / heel/ gusset / foot /toe
I love that socks can be comforting vanilla, or challenging patterns of lace and cables
I love the yarn, pretty workhorse German, hand dyed gorgeousness, and just one more stripe-y goodness
I love that there is always something new to learn and try
50+ pairs in, and I still love sock knitting!

I love knitting socks as my commute involves two trains each way - its a portable project that I can easily work on whilst travelling then gather up in a hurry when racing between platforms! Vicky from Brum

My favorite thing about knitting socks is that they are portable which then results in great conversation starters! Whenever someone comments on my knitting it just opens a door to new insight.

I love the portability of socks and how they feel on your feet plus the beautiful array of different sock yarns.

You actually got me started knitting socks. I would read your blog and in fact read your archives and look at all the lovely socks to the point I decided to try. I never thought I would be able to knit with such small needles. I guess I am on my 10th pair now and can't see myself stopping anytime soon. I love that they usually require just one skein. Most of my projects are soooooooooo expensive and the socks are such a great gift.
Thanks for your blog so much! I have been inspired by your lovely socks.

Sock knitting is not my "go to" as I don't feel adept at it. But the yarn is wonderful and can be used for other items! I do have a pair of socks on my needles right now and must put down my summer reading and try and finish! Thanks for the inspiration.

I love knitting socks because they are so portable....I can take them everywhere and it always conjures up some conversation about knitting

I love knitting socks because of their portability. I recently started knitting them two at a time which makes the less portable, but I still like to knit them (and it helps me to avoid SSS)!

I love the meditative stitching of sock knitting, working st by st with my trusty dp's with endless rounds of fabulous color. I never go anywhere with out a wip sock project to work on.
If I didn't knit socks where would I get left overs for my sock yarn blankets?
This year I have taken my sock knitting to the next level...I have knit two pair of socks with yarn that I spun!!!

I love the yarn for socks. The weight of it, the great colours and variety. You can fit your sock WIP in a fun project bag inside your purse. Sock knitting is still a challenge for me, so I strive for the day when I can knit them as fast as the sock knitters you featured. I love knitting socks! Thank you for your lovely blog. So inspiring.

I started knitting wool socks 25 years ago because my feet were always cold. The only wool socks I could find back then were Ragg Wool. Then I found Indie Dyers and I was hooked!!!

Hi Andi,
Honestly, I haven't quite fallen in love with knitting socks yet but I want to! I've made a few singleton socks and have always ended up with second sock syndrome. I may need to try your two-at-once technique. :)
I love you blog and look forward to seeing what's new each week!
Keep on knitting,
Andrea

My favorite thing about knitting socks is that they can be so easy to knit and that the variety in instructions are endless! :)

I do so hope someone out there can get you that tea :) I bet there will be many!! I love sock knitting because it's portable and bite sized kind of knitting activity.

After I knit up a pair of socks for myself I get socks! Socks that are sized to fit my feet, warm and snuggly, in beautiful colors, and made by me. I love knitting socks. (They do make great gifts too.)

I love knitting socks because they are so useful AND because there is just nothing in the world so clever as a heel-turn! Every time I do it, there is something so miraculous about it!

The best thing about sock knitting is when someone says "I love your socks" and I get to say "I knitted them myself" ... oh, and self-striping sock yarn really floats my boat :)
