As everyone who knows me knows, I rarely knit for myself. So when I saw this was going to be the topic of day 4;
Write about the fate of a past knitting project. Whether it be something that you crocheted or knitted for yourself or to give to another person. An item that lives with you or something which you sent off to charity.
I was like hmmm..good question.
Most of the blankets I have crocheted go to the sister. I know that they use them all the time.
The blanket for the nephew my sister reports gets tons of use and my nephew will not let anyone else use it! Good boy!
This pair of my mother's socks died. She washed them and they were not superwash. I blame myself I did not give her care instructions.
Then there is the issue with projects that have not been completed due to loss or damage. Noro Scarf a very recent tragedy, did not get finished for reason stated in a previous post.There were these Purple socks never got finished because I could not find them again. I know I was on the second sock, but for the life of me I could not tell you where it went. The likely outcome of these could very well be at a local good will. I am sure they would throw them away. I would love to have seen the expression on the person going through the donation and finding a half finished sock with sticks coming out of it.
The attic 24 blanket. Well it is still alive and well. And still not finished. I lost my thrill for it big time. It has almost over a year and I just can't seem to find the want to pick it back up or remove it from my Ravelry WIPs. Do have one of those projects that you just can't seem to get rid of but don't want to work on ever again?
The sock yarn blanket. I still love it and I still work on it, occasionally. It is just going to be one of those projects that will not probably be finished for another couple of years, but I am okay with that. I look forward to adding some of the new sock yarn scraps from this year's Year of Socks.
For the most part I do not know what happens with my knits after they leave my grubby little paws. When I knit items for others I rarely check back to see how they are enjoying it, I just hope they do.
XO
Andi
